@brianoflondon Is docker daemon running as root on your pi?

@dave looks like root:

root 800 1.4 1.0 2856468 41604 ? Ssl 08:10 4:31 /usr/bin/dockerd

@brianoflondon When you were installing the app yesterday were you doing it with sudo, like:

Sudo scripts/app install podcasting20-boosts

If so, try it without the sudo and see if it fails.

@brianoflondon I think apps install through the UI inherit the ownership properly, but installing through the cli inherits root. That’s my current theory.

@dave well it ran but then the docker logs look like this:

standard_init_linux.go:219: exec user process caused: exec format error
standard_init_linux.go:219: exec user process caused: exec format error
standard_init_linux.go:219: exec user process caused: exec format error
standard_init_linux.go:219: exec user process caused: exec format error
standard_init_linux.go:219: exec user process caused: exec format error

@brianoflondon Did it create the database file with the right permissions?

@dave It creates the folder set to umbrel:umbrel and copies in the docker-compose also umbrel:umbrel.

Then it creates data set to root:root but never gets as far as creating the database.

I'm using the most recent docker-compose which I just grabbed off github.

@dave
I just ran it in interactive got this:

Using default port: [2112]...
Using database file: [database.db]
Database file is ready...
Cannot find admin.macaroon file

@brianoflondon That's normal. If you run it outside of the container it will want the macaroon and tls to be in the pwd.
