Nope. Unfortunately, this is the one domain where I use a windows machine.

I understand Linux has been lagging regarding music production.

However it is always improving. Ardour is my go to DAW and there are tons of free lv2 and ladspa plugins out there,

I encourage everyone to play around a bit with it.

ubuntustudio.org/ is a great place to start

ubuntustudio.orgUbuntu Studio – A free and open operating system for creative people.
I've come to prefer ableton. Max4live is very open source like. There's a lot of free, home brew stuff out there.
On a side note, have you looked at zrythm? It looks promising.

Ah man, DAW fatigue, I haven't even started breaking into Renoise yet lol. Maybe if this one gets more mature in development I might consider it. Glad to see they finally hit 1.0.0.rc1
It needs a real time kernel too if I recall.

I was thinking about usage on Windows. Using a DAW on Linux kind of seems silly to me at this point since the Linux software stack is ran by retarded devs that hate stability and standards. You might get a setup that barely works in Linux and have an unusable mess months later. Totally the opposite of what I and others are trying to do. This could work for a glacier style setup running older debian or something,

I totally get that. I do a canned podcast, for which
Ardour on Linux works great for me.

If I were a musician / mixer / masterer I may feel differently.

I just think it's cool that the Linux audio software is much better than it was just a few years back.

As for the stack devs I don't really have an opinion as I don't follow what's going on there.

There's no reason Lunix cannot handle a DAW, technically.

The established software is for Windows and Mac, sure, but it's not rocket science to make it work on Lunix.

Is the open source community lagging? Always, and for the usual reasons. Most of them think LibreOffice is OK.

Lol, for what I need LibreOffice is overkill 🙂

Most businesses could be run on Notepad if people were diligent about it.

Are you trying to start a text editor war? 🙂

Notepad++
Although I do like vscode and nvim on the command line.

@Kolomona @charlie_root @Humpleupagus @ned

First person to scream "EMACS!" wins.

I have never used Notepad++ after switching to EditPad and TextEdit in the 1990s.
@Kolomona @charlie_root @Humpleupagus @ned

EditPad is not open sores but it is shareware and works like a rock.

Everything I can I do at the text level and avoid the fancy formats until the final stages.
